Anti-religonists

Postby Redshadow238 » Thu Mar 04, 2010 8:36 am

First of all i would like to say that i am an Athiest. This post is concerning other athiests that completely oppose religion, like for example Richard Dawkins. What he and people that share his beliefs fail to realise, is that many people on this earth posses a religion because they belive it is their guide to happyness and morality, and for many people it is. All of the worlds major religions do not insight ignorance or violance, infact they preach quite the opposite, which is peace and respect of your fellow human being. Though i am not a part of it, i deeply respect the world of religon, the only part of it i oppose, is fanaticism, for example; fundamentalism, extremism and creationism. I think the bible, quran, etc, sould be treated as spiritual guides, which help people through life for the better. I hate people who war against religion and demand 'reason', they dont even see the purpose and motives of the thing they are fighting against. I wish people would stop listening to this new age Atheism, all you must do is live and let live, religion will always be a part of human existance.

you fail to realise that a lot of religion is horribly detrimental to society, for example the war in ireland, the crusades, 9/11 ect. religion is not harmless, and what it achieves which is good is not unique to religion.

also much of the good preached by religion you would also find say a humanist saying exactly the same things. just because it says some good stuff it doesn't mean there isn't a better way of arriving at those conclusions through reasoning and not through superstition and arbitrarily going along with what the bible says.

The war in Ireland is not religion-related. It happens because the beliefs of the people who lived there vary. Let us remember, we are all sinners but God is a forgiving God who is always ready to forgive as well as to love us. All we need to do is to ask for forgiveness and do our best to follow his commandments.
